Today, EA and Ghost Games have announced that the long-running (or rather, long-driving) Need for Speed franchise will be speeding into 2017 with a new entry in the series. While they didn’t specifically give a name to the upcoming title, they did share some details on what’ll be coming to the new game. The developers are “committed” to customizing your cars, and promise that it’ll be playing a strong role in this and future games going forward. Because that’s always the most important part in a racing game, whether you’re in a high speed race or trying to duck the cops. The developers note that they’re “very excited” to see how players evade the pigs in their upcoming game.
The 2015 Need for Speed reboot was criticized for requiring players to be always online. Ghost and EA have taken that to heart and promise that you’ll be able to play the game’s single player portion offline if you so choose, and you’ll be able to pause the game. It’ll be available the day the game launches, so don’t worry about having to hold off on buying the game. More details on the title–which will be on PS4, Xbox One, and PC–will come from EA Play next month on June.
