Pretend to Be Shocked, Elektra’s Coming to The Defenders

Dead no more.

It’s only three and a half months before Marvel’s The Defenders comes to Netflix. The crossover series will see four street based heroes–Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones)–go up against the evil secret ninja death cult known as The Hand, and while our heroes are formidable, they’ll have an uphill battle ahead of them. These guys may have superpowers, but the Hand has a superpower all on their own: Elektra Natchios.

Elektra first made her appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Daredevil’s second season last year. Played by Elodie Yung, everything about her life–from her training to initially meeting Matt Murdock and later reuniting with him in the present day–was orchestrated to build her up to fulfill her destiny. She tried to fight it, but was later killed by Nobu in the season finale. Her body was later recovered the Hand and sealed into a tomb, and now that it’s going to open…yeah, the Defenders are in trouble.

Marvel’s The Defenders comes to Netflix on Aug. 18.
