INDIES
Unravel and Salt and Sanctuary make up our indie picks for the month of June, as they are both polished and well-rounded titles that have been released long enough to be valid contenders.
Salt and Sanctuary from Ska Studios is a 2D action RPG that is often compared to the Dark Souls series for its tone and gameplay. It was released in March 2016 to critical praise, and would be a great addition to the PS Plus list for June for those who never picked it up since last spring. Not only was it one of six games released during the PlayStation Store Launch Party last year, but it is also a cross-buy title for Vita/PS4 so Sony could please both its handheld and console audiences in one go.
Unravel is another polished indie that could be free next month, and it’s honestly a surprise it still hasn’t made its way to a PS Plus lineup so far. This artsy platformer from EA released in February 2016, where you control a little red character named Yarny as you figure out environmental puzzles and unlock memories revolving around an elderly homeowner. It is very much a type of game Sony usually returns to for its PS Plus games lists due to the easy to grasp gameplay and shorter storyline.
