Overwatch’s sixth event focusing on the game’s year one anniversary arrived this week with 108 new cosmetic items including 11 new legendary skins. This event is collectively the most expensive one so far, meaning skin collector’s are either going to have to save up 33,000 coins or hope lady luck is on their side while either collecting or purchasing loot boxes.
There has been some criticism from players stating that the odds of getting legendaries in loot boxes during the event so far has seemed less probable than last events, with duplicates becoming increasingly more common.
Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan responded to these criticisms on Battle.Net, stating:
“I just wanted to acknowledge that we’ve been following the threads about the loot box rewards as they pertain to the anniversary events, other events and loot boxes in general. The feedback and suggestions have been helpful to us. We had a really great discussion yesterday about the feedback we’ve been hearing this week. While I don’t have any immediate action items to report, I thought it was important for you to know that we are listening. Please feel free to continue your discussions about rewards, loot boxes, and anniversary cosmetic items in this thread. I’ll ask the forum moderators to route all discussion on the topic to this thread.”
The event is running from May 23 until June 12. Although Kaplan didn’t divulge any actual plans to fix the lack of event skins within loot boxes, it looks like Blizzard plans to keep listening to player’s feedback and hopefully adjust the issue in the future.
