Hugh Jackman Witnessed Real-Life Mario Kart and It’s Wonderful

Everybody loves a bit of Mario Kart. All of the chaotic, colorful action on the big screen is great fun and has fueled rivalries among friends for years. So when Hugh Jackman looked out his car window to see Mario and Co. in their karts next to him, he was beside himself with excitement.

Jackman posted the 25-second clip to his official Twitter account earlier today. The actor best known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men and Wolverine films is currently visiting Tokyo and spotted the real-life Mario Kart escapades while waiting for the green light.

People dressed as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and more can be seen patiently waiting for the light to go green in their tiny karts next to Jackman. And by the sounds of it, he was rooting for Mario or Luigi to go ahead and take pole position.

It looks like blue shells and bananas weren’t permitted for this race, but it still looks like a ton of fun. Plus, Hugh certainly sounded like he was enjoying spectating the Mario Kart antics, too.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe released last month on the Nintendo Switch and became the fastest-selling Mario Kart game of all time, selling more than 459,000 copies in the U.S. on its launch day alone.
