Does Fire Emblem Echoes Have a Weapon Triangle?

The weapon triangle is a key feature in the Fire Emblem series, deciding which units get the advantage in battle across almost every entry. Like the original game, however, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia does away with the weapon triangle in favor of a different system.

You no longer have to worry about swords being weak to axes and all that, but rather concern yourself with the stats of your characters. Damage in Fire Emblem Echoes is dictated by attack stats versus defense and resistance. If a unit’s attack is higher than the defending unit’s defense, they’ll deal the difference in damage. Resistance works the same way against magical attacks. Because of this, it’s important to play a bit of a numbers game in Echoes, and boost your army’s stats as best you can.

Of course, there’s a handful of other stats that come into play as well, like luck, speed, and skill. Keeping track of all your unit’s abilities will prove more important than ever before with Fire Emblem Echoes.
