The cat is finally out of the Far Cry 5 bag. We know without a shadow of a doubt that the game is a definitely a thing, it’s taking place in Hope County (fictional), Montana (real state), and it’s out next year, Feb. 27, 2018 to be precise.
What we didn’t have a clear idea of until today, was the game’s story and characters. While there is still a lot to learn, the picture is now a bit clearer. Far Cry 5 takes place in a country that is under the heel of a dangerous, and loony doomsday cult. This cult, the Project at Eden’s Gate, holds total control of the area, and terrifies the counties’ denizens into submission.
You, the player character, will arrive onto the scene, and it’s up to you to raise up the resistance. That’s where Mary May, Pastor Jerome, and Nick Rye all come in.
Each character has their own motivations for fighting against the Project at Eden’s Gate. Mary May wants to protect what’s left of her family and community, Nick Rye wants a brighter world for his future sons, while Pastor Jerome seeks revenge against the cult that led his “flock” astray. However in the end, their goals are all the same: taking back their home from the Project at Eden’s Gate.
You can check out the trailers for each of Far Cry 5’s three currently confirmed allies below. Far Cry 5 will release on Feb. 27, 2018 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Project Scorpio.
