Spider-Man fans were blown away when, during 2016’s PlayStation E3 press conference, Sony showed off a gameplay trailer of a PlayStation 4 exclusive Spider-Man game which looks like the closest we’ll ever get to actually swinging through New York city.
No specific release date has been officially announced, nor even a release window, but it looks like the highly anticipated game will be arriving before the year’s out. In a livestreeam, captured by Reddit user GamingSince95, Ryan Penagos, vice president and executive editor of Marvel Digital Media seemed to let slip that the game will launch this year.
During the video he said: “there’s even more on the horizon for 2017 like Spider-Man coming to PlayStation 4 and Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC.”
The game is being worked on by Insomniac and some have speculated that the game may release alongside the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie which is set to be released in July, though that’s only speculation. The game is a stand alone adventure and not related to the film but no doubt releasing the two together would be beneficial for both.
As big Spider-Man fans, we hope we’ll be web-slinging sooner rather than later.
