The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Getting Star Fragments

Recommended Videos

Star Fragments are rare materials that you’ll need if you want to fully upgrade some of your armor sets in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. However, obtaining them seems to be a matter of luck and hoping that the odds are in your favor.

If you’re looking to farm the game for Star Fragments, the most reliable way of doing so is to wait for a Blood Moon to rise. Whenever it’s night, there is a chance of a star falling and landing somewhere in Hyrule, but those odds seem to be higher during a night where there is a Blood Moon. A Blood Moon occurs around every four to five nights, so just sleep or rest until a Blood Moon appears, then head up to a high point in Hyrule where you can get a good view of your surroundings. Be sure to save your game after teleporting to a high point. If you’re too late, you might miss seeing the star completely, and you’ll lose your chance to get the Star Fragment.

In such cases, reload your save to see if you can catch the location of the star. If it doesn’t show up, simply wait for the next Blood Moon and repeat the process. If you do see a star, head to its location as soon as you can, as the Fragment can disappear if you take too long in getting to it.
