Is There a Fishing Rod in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild?

Recommended Videos

Breath of the Wild’s world of Hyrule is full of wildlife, including fish. Considering fish are a key part of the game and its wide cooking feature, you may be wondering if there is a fishing rod to be found in this world.

Well, turns out there is no fishing rod in Breath of the Wild. We’ve spent tons of hours in the game, and have yet to come across any such contraption. Your primary tools for catching fish in its absence is mainly through brute force.

Rather than fishing like a normal, sane human, Link can throw a bomb into the water near fish using L to raise and R to throw. Once the fish have been exploded, you can hop into the water and grab them from the surface. If you want to go the less violent route, you can jump into the water and catch fish with your bare hands. Try to use X to dash towards your target, and hit A quickly once you’re close.
