Alicia Vikander Sure Looks Like Lara Croft in These Tomb Raider Photos

A survivor is born.

Square Enix is hard at work on getting their video games to head to film, and the award winning Tomb Raider franchise is one of them. The upcoming film, based on the 2013 reboot, will star Ex Machina’s Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft as she leads an expedition to search for her missing father that later ends with the ship being wrecked and her stranded on an island also inhabited by feral men. In the screenshots below, that influence has never been more clearer, as Vikander dons the tank top and cargo pants that Lara wears in the reboot. She isn’t seen with the bow, but given how that’s one of Lara’s weapons almost as iconic as her dual pistols, it’s a given that she’ll be wielding it in the film.

Along with Alicia Vikander, the Tomb Raider film will also star Justified’s Walton Goggins as Mathias Vogel, The Wire’s Dominic West as Lara Croft’s father Richard, and Into the Badlands’ Daniel Wu, who will play the ship’s captain Lu Ren. The film is expected to release on Mar. 16, 2018.
