Sniper Elite 4: How to Use the Welrod Sidearm Effectively

Pin-drop silence.
Sniper Elite

While using Suppressed Ammunition and learning how to Silence Your Gunshots are both very effective ways of ensuring that enemies do not hear you fire your weapons in Sniper Elite 4, there does exist another close range alternative that the game doesn’t exactly advertise. I’m talking, of course, about the Welrod.

The Welrod is the very first sidearm players come equipped with at the start of the game, and it is one that will probably go by unnoticed by a lot of players due to its fairly average stats. It’s also bolt action, making it far less appealing than many of the game’s other semi automatic handguns.

But what makes this gun truly unique is that its one of the very few weapons in the entire game that are already suppressed, firing completely silent without the use of suppressed ammunition.

And since large amounts of regular pistol ammunition are found in every ammo cache and on every dead soldier, the Welrod is also the most efficient silenced close-range weapon in the game. It’s also fairly accurate at longer ranges as far as sidearms are concerned.

So next time you happen to be cornered by a Nazi in tall grass, remember to make use of your trusty Welrod.
