NieR: Automata – Getting More Chips

Recommended Videos

Chips are kind of like skills and upgrades you can get for 2B in NieR: Automata. When you first start out in the game, you’ll have some that feed you information through the HUD. These are the ones that indicate to you how much HP you have left, how much HP your enemies have, as well as your mini-map display. Each chip takes up a certain number of storage units, so you’ll need to uninstall a few of them if you want to install new ones. Just make sure not to take out the OS chip as that will trigger an instant game over, and send you back to the last access point.

Chips are fairly easy to acquire in the game. You’ll be able to purchase some in the Bunker by using the elevator to head up to the Terminal area. Talk to the vendor here, and he’ll sell you a selection of chips and even Pod upgrades if you need them. Most supply vendors around the game’s open world will sell them too. The better and more useful chips will cost a lot of money, so remember to save up for them.
