Horizon Zero Dawn: How to Set Traps

How to Set Traps – Horizon Zero Dawn

Recommended Videos

Combat in Horizon Zero Dawn isn’t as simple as grabbing your bow and unleashing a torrent of arrows in your enemy’s direction. Instead, Aloy will need to use the machines’ unique weaknesses to her advantage, and traps allow her to do just that. Here’s how to set traps in Horizon Zero Dawn.

Traps are added to your Tools which can be cycled through by using left and right on the d-pad. Once you’ve selected the Trap you want to use, you’ll next want to think about where is best for you to place it. With that in mind, use your Focus with R3 and then take a look at the path that your victim is taking. Wait until you’re out of sight and sneak over there. Press down on the d-pad when you’re in position to set a trap. Make your way back to safety without being detected and wait for the machine to trigger it. Traps are proximity-detonated, so as soon as a machine gets close enough, it’ll explode. You can also use a shot from your arrow to trigger a trap when the enemy is near it.

That’s all you need to know to set traps in Horizon Zero Dawn. For more tips, tricks, and guides on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide.
