How to Beat Snapmaws Easily – Horizon Zero Dawn

Recommended Videos

Snapmaws are one of the more badass machines you’ll find wandering the world of Horizon Zero Dawn, so we’ll walk you through how to beat Snapmaws easily. These are robot crocodiles with the ability to hit you from distance with a ranged Freeze attack. Of course, coming across one for the first time can be a little daunting, but fortunately, Snapmaws have a weak point that can very easily be exploited to take them down with ease.

While all of a Snapmaw’s body is weak to Fire damage, there’s one place in particular you want to aim your fire arrows. These machines have two Blaze Canisters just on the top of their heads. These are going to be your primary target. While these are pretty tricky to nail with a fire arrow, one direct hit is all you need. If you hear the sound of breaking glass, start backing up. Snapmaws will explode if you manage to hit one of their canisters, dealing a significant amount of damage. Simply rinse and repeat this process with the other canister and you should be able to take down Snapmaws with just a couple of arrows.

If you’re struggling to land your shots, it’s worth trying to disable the Freeze move that these machines can use. To do this, you can use just about any kind of arrow or elemental attack. All you want to do is aim for the throat area of Snapmaws. A few Tearblast arrows should be enough to disable this component and give you the upper hand against Snapmaws.
