Prey is arguably Bethesda’s biggest title in 2017, at least at the moment. The original game was a well-received title on PC and Xbox 360, and when a Prey 2 was announced in 2006, fans were immediately hyped. After a long disappointing wait and finding out about Prey 2’s cancellation, we finally learned of a new Prey on the way from Arkane Studios at last year’s E3.
Truthfully, we don’t know an awful lot about the new game. We know a few brief story elements, and that it has some kind of possession-based gameplay along with the normal shooting and exploration. The good news, however, is that Bethesda has been totally open to discussing parts of the game so far. Game Informer had a full cover story on Prey, where Bethesda and Arkane Studios pledged to make sure the PC version is up to snuff, compared to the recent PC port of Dishonored 2.
Needless to say, there’s a lot of hype and expectation surrounding the new Prey, simply because of what series it’s from and that it’s made by Arkane Studios. From the trailers and gameplay we’ve seen, it certainly looks like it could be one of the standout titles of the year, but it’s still too early to say yet. However, it is easily one of the most awaited games of the year, so hopefully there’s good things in store and more details about Prey will be shared soon.
