War for the Planet of the Apes has received its first, official trailer.
In it, we take a brief glimpse at the lasting war between apes and humans, showing us the perspectives of both Andy Serkis’ Caesar and Woody Harrelson’s vaguely named villain The Colonel.
Caesar claims the apes have given the humans plentiful opportunities for peace, but that despite all that, the humans still wish to hunt them down and exterminate them. The Colonel, on the other hand, sees the apes as a threat, and is under the impression nature continues to punish humanity for creating these creatures.
Besides the undeniable tension, this debut trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes looks visually stunning. Everything from the cinematography to the motion capture and the visual effects looks on point, and that shouldn’t come as a surprise seeing how both Rise and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes have received wide praise for the aforementioned features.
War for the Planet of the Apes hits theaters come July 14, 2017.
