Ocarina of Time’s Soundtrack Is Getting a Vinyl Release Recorded With a Live Orchestra

Zelda makes its way to vinyl.

The Zelda series has always been well known for its memorable music by Koji Kondo, including of course the iconic theme song. Iam8bit has announced that they’ll be releasing a new vinyl album called “Hero of Time,” featuring music from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time completely re-recorded with a 64-piece orchestra. The company has partnered with Materia Collective to record the vinyl, who also helped produce their release of the Undertale soundtrack.

The vinyl comes complete with special artwork for the release by Ryan Brinkerhoff, and will release sometime in Q2 2017 for $40. Here’s everything included and you can see examples of the release’s artwork down below.

  • 180-gram heavyweight colored vinyl
  • Diecut Ocarina Window
  • Gold Foil Triforce Stamping
  • Gatefold Vista Artwork

Pre-orders for the vinyl open on Friday, December 9 at 10AM Pacific on iam8bit’s site. It should be noted that 2017 celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Zelda series. Also in celebration of the anniversary, Nintendo announced they’d be opening a series of Zelda themed escape rooms across the U.S. Footage of the next Zelda game, Breath of the Wild, was recently shown off at The Game Awards and Reggie Fils-Aimé brought the game on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night along with the Nintendo Switch.
