Nolan North Won Best Performance at The Game Awards, Says Dev Performance Matters

Uncharted 4, Nolan North

Performance for the ages.

Nolan North won Best Performance at The Game Awards 2016 tonight for his performance as Nathan Drake in Uncharted 4.

Nolan took the stage and thanked a lot of people including his wife who “badgered” him to get into voiceovers, his kids, and developer Naughty Dog who he has worked with for the past ten years. He also thanked Amy Hennig, who left Naughty Dog in 2014 and is now working with Visceral Games on a game set in the Star Wars universe.

The voice actor stressed the point that the performance of every designer, programmer, artist, and every person at Naughty Dog and every developer he has worked with was more important than his. He said, “Without their performance, my performance would not only not matter, it wouldn’t exist.” You can check out his full speech below.

This year’s Best Performance category was a rather crowded one, thanks to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End filling up three of the six spots open for nominations. Nolan North (Drake), Troy Baker (Sam Drake), and Emily Rose (Elena) are all up for this potential win, with Alex Hernadez (Mafia III), Cissy Jones and Rich Sommer (Firewatch) filling out the remaining slots. With other major performances not making the cut this year, all eyes were on The Game Awards to see which actor/actress would take home this honor.
