A treat for the holidays.
Square Enix has announced that the upcoming demo for NieR: Automata on PS4, will be hitting the west the same day it releases in Japan, December 22. The demo is given the strange title of “DEMO 120161128,” fitting for a series that already has a strange name.
You’ll play as the game’s protagonist 2B, a combat android, as she visits the factory area that has been shown off extensively in trailers and screenshots. Here mission there is to destroy a massive enemy that lies within the factory, and you’ll have access to multiple weapons and options in battle. The demo should be a good way to gauge how much Platinum’s work has influenced the combat since the days of the original NieR.
NieR: Automata will launch on March 7, 2017 for PlayStation 4. A PC release, and Collector’s Edition of the game has also been confirmed. There’s also a collaboration the title is having with Final Fantasy XV, bringing Noctis’ Engine Blade over to Automata.
