Every year the game industry comes together for GDC (Game Developers Conference), to share design and detail the newest technology behind the games we play. Final Fantasy XV is going to be one of the games give its own panel next year, and it’s entirely focused on the AI behind Prompto’s photo feature.
The panel is titled “Prompto’s Facebook: How a Buddy-AI Auto-Snapshots Your Adventure in FFXV,” and will be presented by Lead Game Designer Prasert Prasertvithyakarn from Square Enix.
The snapshots that Prompto takes are actually representations of what the character sees in-game and not standard screenshots, meaning the images you get represent your individual adventure. Attendees will get information on how this feature changes the game experience, how you can use photos to characterize a game character, and the technical specifications behind it. The description also states that “Attendees will also gain inspiration for and knowledge of new generation game auto-recording features, and the creation of ’emotional AI.'”
Currently there is no date and time listed for the panel, but you can take a look at the official page here. Final Fantasy XV is currently available on Xbox One and PS4. The game’s version 1.03 update hit yesterday which adds on fixes and new features for Prompto’s photos, letting players select frames for a photo before uploading to social media.
What do you think of Prompto’s photo skills in Final Fantasy XV? Is it a feature that fits and improves upon the game? Let us know what you think down in the comments below.
