Could’ve used another year in development, perhaps?
Without going too deep into spoiler territory, there is a particular chapter in the latter half of the game that drags on way too long, and also tosses plot twists and other revelations at the player with little to no proper explanation at all. As the game’s second half shuttles you through story beat after story beat, it’s this particular chapter that seems to be the weakest for most players.
However, according to Japanese website Gamer.ne, and as translated by the folks over at NeoGAF, Square Enix does plan to release future updates and patches to address these complaints. First off, aforementioned chapter will be adjusted to make the gameplay feel like less of a trudge. In addition to that, the updates will also contain new and fully voiced cutscenes that attempt to shed more light on important events and NPCs in the game, giving players a more holistic view of the story.
As previously announced, the developers also plan on adding other tweaks like font adjustment and even a new game plus mode to the game in other updates as well. All in all, this could be what we really need to get a firm grasp of what’s really going on in the game, and not have to resort to reading fan Final Fantasy XV Wikias to figure things out.
Final Fantasy XV is now available on PS4 and Xbox One.
