According to TMZ, 60-year-old Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has suffered a severe heart attack on a plane flight from London to LAX this Friday afternoon, going into cardiac arrest soon after. Fisher was promoting The Princess Diarist, which is a collection of memoires that depict her personal experiences during the filming of the original Star Wars trilogy.
Fellow actress Anna Akana, who is known for her brief role in Marvel’s Ant-Man and her YouTube channel, was seated next to Fisher during the incident. She then confirmed the rumors through social media, giving us a brief sketch of the worrying situation.
CPR was administered by various people attending the flight in question. Fisher was rushed to the hospital upon landing, where she remains at the time of writing. No further details are known to the public.
Carrie Fisher is largely known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, returning as an original cast member in the new trilogy that started with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the official seventh entry in the film series. Fisher will also appear in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which wrapped filming last Summer and is currently in post-production.
