More than testing system updates.

The Xbox One Preview Program is receiving a new name and design today to reflect its expansion from testing system updates. Now known as the Xbox Insider Program, it will be available in the near future for any Xbox One owner to download as the Xbox Insider Hub.

According to Major Nelson, the Xbox Insider Program will preview games, apps, and other console experiences. Testing system updates is still regulated for old preview members and will not be available for new members.

The Xbox Insider FAQ states that Xbox One Preview Program is now referred to as the Xbox One Update Preview and appears in the hub to manage previewing system updates. Other changes include a new UI, an Xbox Insider profile card highlighting your contributions, and support for multiple users on one console.

The Xbox One Preview Program started in February 2014 for Xbox One owners to test upcoming console features and send feedback before rolling the updates out for every console. The only way to join the program before was to sign up on a website and hope to get in when it first launched, or be invited to join by another member.

For previous members, the changes are out today for a select number of users and the update will install automatically as long as the console is in Instant-on mode with the Xbox Preview Dashboard app installed.
