“It’s too early to tell.”
Titanfall 2 was released a few weeks ago and the game has had a strong reception from both gamers and critics alike. Those of you hoping to hear that a third game is guaranteed will be frustrated to learn that a third installment has not yet been green-light by publisher EA.
Respawn’s CEO Vince Zampella stated in an interview with Glixel that Respawn would be interested in developing the game’s universe further, but it will ultimately depend on how strong sales have been.
“We don’t know yet,” Zampella said.. “The game is, critically, a huge success. We’re really happy with all the reviews and the positive sentiment. Sales, it’s too early to tell. We’d definitely like to tell more of the story and the universe. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that we’ll explore more of it.”
David Bennett, a publicist at EA, has stated that EA is “committed to the franchise.”
“So, whatever the f*** that means,” said Zampella.
Titanfall 2 may have received good reviews, but it was released in-between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, two major rivals that are equally, if not more, popular. Some critics have been critical of EA for releasing the game at such a busy time.
Titanfall 2 certainly has its fair share of fans who will no doubt be eager to hear news of a third installment.
