How to Turn Down Your DualShock 4’s Lightbar Brightness

Lightbar Brightness – PlayStation 4

With the release of the new PlayStation 4 Pro also comes the redesigned DualShock 4. While there’s no real difference in terms of how the controller works, the controller’s lightbar now also features a slight strip at the top of the touchpad. This is used to help players determine what color icon or character they are in a game.

Unfortunately, this new strip of light can be pretty distracting, especially in the dark. With this in mind, you’ll probably want to dim the brightness of the lightbar. Yes, while you can’t turn it completely off, you can certainly dim it. Here’s how you do exactly that.

First, make your way to your PS4’s Settings menu and then head to Devices. From here, go to Controllers and then Brightness. All you need to do now is simply set it to the lowest brightness setting. Unfortunately, there’s no way to completely turn the lightbar off, but if you have it on the dimmest setting, it’ll be much less noticeable when playing. No more blinding light while playing your favorite games!
