OpTic Gaming Wins First Major Gears of War 4 Pro Circuit Tournament

Over the weekend, the Gears of War 4 pro circuit crowned a champion as OpTic Gaming defeated Team EnVyUs to win the $300k MLG Columbus tournament in Ohio.

Both teams are among the most experienced and successful esports franchises, so it wasn’t a total shock to see both of them meet up in the grand finals in an esports scene as fresh and unpaved as Gears of War 4.

On Sunday, Team EnVyUs fought back after being sent to the losers bracket but had to go through BOT Empire to get another chance at OpTic who sent them there to begin with. BOT Empire almost pulled out an upset in the losers bracket finals, but ultimately lost 2-1 to EnVyUs.

In the grand finals, despite EnVyUs getting second look and opportunity, OpTic Gaming prevailed again, and took home the tournament’s grand prize. If you missed the event and want to see how the finals played out, you can still watch the broadcast via Gears of War 4’s official Twitch channel.

As a side note there were also a lot of giveaways during the stream, and anyone who tuned in on Sunday got a guaranteed exclusive emblem. So keep that in mind for next time if you’re a fan of the scene and missed this weekend’s event in case similar giveaways occur.

You can keep up with future Gears 4 events and tournaments via MLG and the official Gears esports Twitter.
