Time to get serious.
The Serious Sam franchise, known for its big guns and hordes of alien monstrosities to mow down, has taken a turn for virtual reality with Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope, out now in Steam Early Access.
Currently exclusive to the HTC Vive, the game makes use of the motion controls to create a hectic shooting gallery in your gaming room. “Step into the shoes of the Earth Defense Force’s greatest hero in this unique VR simulation based on Sam Stone’s own log files from his time as captain of the Battlecruiser Saratoga. Experience the missions that turned Captain Stone into the legend that he is today,” the game’s description reads.
From series creator Croteam, Serious Sam VR is scheduled to be in Early Access for six months. While the game currently feature’s two Worlds for players to fight through, the developer promises more Worlds in the future, along with more weapons, enemies, difficulty modes, and even greater customization.
Serious Sam VR is available in Early Access for $40 USD. For the first week of release, gamers can pick it up for 20% off. The game will eventually also come to Oculus, but only after the release of the Touch controllers.
