Metro 2033 Devs Are Making an Oculus Touch Horror Game

Metro 2033

The Metro devs return with a creepy looking new game.

Oculus held their third annual VR developers conference today, where Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light developer, 4A Games, announced a brand new Oculus Touch title. ARKTIKA.1 is a new horror/FPS game, that looks to be evoking some of the same feelings as the Metro titles.

The short one-minute trailer released for the game gives us our first look at its snowy, barren setting. A narrator says, “We’ve been punished by an endless winter for a generation, with no end in sight.”

We see some shots of decimated city areas, and the shadows of unknown creatures who all seem vaguely humanoid, before seeing some kind of giant cybernetic gorilla creature. The trailer ends with some quick shots of the bodiless hands Oculus is known for, dual wielding futuristic weapons and shooting at enemies from behind cover. Take a look at the trailer down below.

ARKTIKA.1 doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but will launch sometime in Q2 of 2017.  The Oculus Touch controllers will release on Dec. 6, and retail for $199.In a statement about the game, cofounder and creative director of 4A Games Andriy Prokhorov, said they wanted to create an atmospheric shooter on VR.

ARKTIKA.1 is a full-blown ААА title, and we’re employing all of our accumulated experience making high-quality shooters, and also using a lot of new opportunities provided only by VR,” Prokhorov said.
