Get ready to transform.
Kingdom Hearts III may not be the next Kingdom Hearts game we’ll see, but it’s still the foremost thing on fan’s minds. Square Enix release two new screenshots for the highly anticipated game today, to coincide with Paris Games Week. It’s a brief look at a game we know very little about, but even so the screenshots dish out a couple of important details.
First off, they give us our first look at Drive Forms returning from Kingdom Hearts II. Valor, Mystic, and Guard were all drive forms in Kingdom Hearts II, that let Sora merge with allies to get a brand new look and set of powers. The first screenshot shows Sora clad in the red clothing of the Valor form, while the second puts him in the colorful yellow outfit of the Guard Form. Before now we didn’t really know if Drive Forms would be featured in Kingdom Hearts III, although it remains to be seen if their function will change at all.
Another piece of interesting information is the world that the screenshots look to take place on. With the Greek architecture and clouds, it seems obvious that this is the Hercules world and could possibly even be Mount Olympus, the realm of the gods. Square Enix has said that we’ll find out more info on Kingdom Hearts III, after Kingdom Hearts 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue launches in January.
Kingdom Hearts III is currently scheduled to release sometime in 2017, on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Square Enix also announced today that Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 Remix would both be coming to PS4 next March. Additionally, Sora himself is going to be added in as free DLC to the recently released World of Final Fantasy.
