Hidetaka Suehiro, AKA Swery65, Officially Leaves Access Games

I guess Dark Dreams do die after all.

Hidetake Suehiro, or Swery65 as he’s more commonly known, has announced his departure from Access Games. The game developer recently sent out a Japanese and English tweet, stating that he has left the company, and that his health condition is fine for now.

Here’s the translation of the Japanese tweet, courtesy of Gematsu:

“It’s been about one year since I started treatment. I have a report. I, Swery, have resigned as a company director at Access Games as of August 31, 2016. Huh? Took a while to say?! Now now. These things happen. I’ll make another announcement later about what’s next. Thank you for your continued support!”

Swery65 is well-known for the odd charm he has in video games, namely Deadly Premonition and D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die. While Deadly Premonition was a bit of a janky mess in terms of gameplay and graphics, it quickly amassed a cult following because of its recognizable music and engaging murder mystery story. Similarly, D4 also featured a murder mystery plot, but with Swery’s departure from Access Games, it doesn’t look like the game will be getting its second season anytime soon.
