Should You Choose 20 or 30 Minutes in the Reactor in Final Fantasy VII Remake?

In the first chapter of the game, Cloud and Barret will infiltrate the deepest recesses of a Mako Reactor together. Once there, you’ll be tasked with setting the charges, and choosing how much time you need before it goes off. You’ll have a choice between 20 or 30 minutes.

The short answer is, it doesn’t really matter what you choose. The timer won’t go off until after the fight with the Guard Sentinel, so you don’t need to worry about not being able to clear the boss fight in time. As the timer goes off, you’ll need to make your escape from the Reactor within that time limit.

However, you’ll only be encountering soldiers, Shock Troopers, and a Sweeper along the way. As long as you’re making use of both characters’ abilities to get through the combat quickly, you should be able to make your escape in way less than 20 minutes.

From what we can tell, though, there doesn’t seem to be any difference in choosing 20 or 30 minutes for the Reactor escape, as Cloud will still get paid the promised amount of Gil once you get back to Sector 7, so just choose whatever you’re comfortable with. The only difference is the bit of dialogue from Barret after you make your choice.

That’s all you need to know about choosing 20 or 30 minutes in the Reactor in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
