The most obvious way that PSVR trails behind the competition is through its sub-par resolution. The PSVR offers 1080p resolution, while both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive boast 1200p. It’s by no means a bad headset, but the difference is notable if you’ve tried the competition out. Everything looks a whole lot smoother when using a Rift or Vive, and it’s more difficult to notice you’re basically staring at a screen mere centimeters from your eyes.
In order to really make the most of the forthcoming power of the PS4 Pro and some of the beautiful content that VR creators are making, any future PSVR iterations will need to make use of an upgraded resolution. With some excellent exclusive titles already out on the system, this would provide for a premium VR experience in the living room.
