Ho-ho-hooked on a feeling.
In one of his beloved Facebook Q&A sessions, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 director James Gunn answered quite a few fan questions to shed some light on the movie’s highly anticipated sequel.
Near the end of the first movie, the giant tree-like alien known as Groot sacrificed himself to save the Guardians, only to be reborn and soiled by Rocket Raccoon as a tiny twig with no recollection of his previous life. Groot is voiced by Vin Diesel, who has a very deep, dare I say imposing voice that perfectly lends itself to this gigantic living tree creature thing. Yet we couldn’t imagine Diesel voicing baby Groot the size of a regular house plant… or can we?
When asked if Vin Diesel would return as the voice of Groot, Gunn simply said yes, clarifying that “Vin is an actor and capable of doing many voices,” adding “his Carol Channing is famous in Hollywood.”
In addition to that, James Gunn also stated the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 would land “before Christmas”. That still seems far off, but we’re already nearing September, meaning a trailer can be expected within three to four months at the very latest.
I don’t know about you, but seeing baby Groot dance around to The Jackson 5’s I Want You Back always gives us a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 will hit theaters come May 5, 2017. The team is also expected to cross over with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.
