SMITE’s New Update Brings New Skins and Co-Op to Consoles

Battle like the gods… with friends!

Smite’s latest update, 3.17, has arrived for Xbox One and PS4 today. The update kicks off this year’s Odyssey, adding a new game mode and more.

Xing Tian, the new mode, is SMITE’s first truly cooperative mode. The mode puts teams of five in what is essentially an MMO-style raid, where players will fight waves of enemies and even bosses. You start at level 13 with 7500 gold, leveling up and purchasing items from there as you fight a series of random encounters. There’s a time limit for each round, and the difficulty will increase with each passing wave. Unfortunately, this mode is only available for a limited time.

As mentioned earlier, the 3.17 update also starts this year’s Odyssey, an event that will have new content released every other week until the SMITE World Championship, early next year. If you purchase this content, or complete special quests, you’ll earn special Odyssey points which can of course be used to unlock more items. And for all the trophy/achievement loving people, the 3.17 update also introduces new achievements for characters such as Geb, He Bo, and the new Izanami.

The full patch notes can be read here at SMITE’s official blog. SMITE is available now for free on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Marketplace.
