In celebration of Batman day, Zack Snyder tweeted out an on-set picture that grants us a first look as J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon. A few days earlier, Snyder also posted an exclusive look at Batman’s new Tactical Suit, which is quite reminiscent of Night Owl’s costume from Snyder’s cult-classic interpretation of Watchmen.
The Tactical Batsuit is thrown in at the end of this article for good measure. For now, here’s the first official look at J.K. Simmons’ version of James Gordon standing on top of what is likely the GCPD building, shining the iconic Bat-signal up into the night sky. .
J.K. Simmons, who previously played the beloved version of news publisher J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy, is filling the shoes of Gary Oldman who played the character in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy. On the small screen, James Gordon is the main face of Gotham, played by Ben McKenzie.
It had previously been confirmed that Simmons’ involvement in the Justice League film would be minimal, sporting more of a cameo role in which he will interact with multiple characters in the movie rather than being a main addition to the cast. In fact, Simmons has already stated he finished filming all of his scenes for the movie a few weeks ago.
As promised, we can’t help but end this article with a brief glimpse at Batman’s new piece of armor, should you have missed it when it was hot a few days ago.
Justice League will hit theaters come November 16, 2017.
