Destiny: Rise of Iron – How to Farm Omnigul

Omnigul Farm – Destiny: Rise of Iron

Remember the Grasp of Malok? It was that amazing weapon that would rarely drop from Omnigul during the Will of Crota strike. Since it was rare, players developed a farming strategy that allowed you to continuously kill the boss in order to run through much faster without ever having to go back to Orbit.  It turns out that same method can be used to rapidly increase your light in Destiny: Rise of Iron. Here’s how to do it.

The first thing you’ll want is a team of three strong Guardians and at least one needs to be a Hunter with the Tether ability. This will both slow Omnigul down and increase the amount of damage the entire team will inflict. Secondly, you’ll want powerful weapons. The Raze-Lighter and the Dark-Drinker are your best bets. If you have a beefed up Gjallarhorn, that can help too, but limit that to only one since the reload time and the low amount of ammo will prove to be more of a detriment than anything.

As far as the other classes rolling in your team, anything with a high damage dealing Super will help. Voidwalker Warlocks can deal an immense amount of damage once the Tether hits, as can Striker Titans and Gunslinger Hunters. Don’t use Stormcaller or Sunbreaker as they take a very long time to go away, and you’ll want to be able to use your swords. Once you’re all set up it’s time to start.

Choose the Will of Crota strike from the map and set it to the one that has a recommended light of 320. You don’t need to do this one as part of Destiny: Rise of Iron’s new playlists. Once in, continue through the strike normally making sure that every player in your group charges their super, you’re going to need it for the farm method. When you reach the hallway when you first see Omnigul – before she runs into the final boss room – it’s time to spring into action. Your hunter will need to shoot a Tether at the bottom of the column directly to the left of her. This will lock her and nearby adds in place for the whole team to go crazy. Make sure not to hit her directly with the arrow as that will only make a mess of things.

Once the Tether lands, the other members of the Fireteam need to pop their Supers to deal a chunk of damage. After that, simply spam the R2/RT attack with your swords until she’s dead. You must kill her before she leaves the room. A good idea is to stay relatively close to one another so if somebody drops they can be quickly revived. While it’s possible to still finish with only two Guardians up, you’ll definitely want three to make things easier. Also, since she can be easy to lose in a crowd, she follows the same path every time. Directly to the left and up the hill. Just follow and keep spamming.

If done right, she will die and drop blues that will almost always be higher light than what you already have. Pick them up  then use the nearby adds to charge your Super leaving only one enemy alive… then kill yourself. This will spawn you in the same segment allowing you to repeatedly kill Omnigul and reap the rewards.

If you happen to fail in killing her, DO NOT enter the boss room. Just use the adds to regain super and ammo then kill yourself to try again.

Safe travels, Guardians. For more Destiny: Rise of Iron help, check out our wiki for guides and tips!
