Looks to colorful to be dramatic.
Square Enix uploaded a teaser video for a “dramatic RPG” on their YouTube channel last week, and they’ve just announced the game’s title: Kamitsuri. Oh and also, it’s going to be for smartphones. You can check out the game’s new trailer down below.
Pre-registration for the game has also begun, and players can sign up for it at the game’s official website. I’m not quite sure what the game’s about, but it looks like it’s going to be an RPG tale about light and darkness, and there will be gods and deities involved. The game’s aesthetic looks very tied to traditional Japanese folklore, so it could be an interesting direction to explore.
Square Enix has also announced that Kamitsuri is slated for a summer 2017 release. There’s no word on whether the game will be getting an English release. Considering how niche this smartphone game looks, I wouldn’t hold my breath for a localization announcement.
Square Enix also recently announced Cosmos Rings as an RPG exclusive to the Apple Watch, so clearly they’re thriving in the mobile devices market.
