Earlier today, Sony sent out invitations to press members for an event called the “PlayStation Meeting,” where the company is rumored to show off their upgraded PlayStation 4 console, known as the Neo. The event will be held at the PlayStation Theater in New York City on Sept. 7 at 3PM ET. The company has not provided many details about the event beyond that it will “share details about the PlayStation Business.”
Earlier this week, a report from VICE circulated the internet claiming that the unveiling of the Neo will take place on the date above. It’s said to be an upgraded console that will support 4K gaming and other media. The Neo is also expected to bring a sizable boost in processing power, which will make it a more viable machine for the launch of virtual reality. Sony is releasing its virtual reality headset later this fall (the PlayStation VR), while the new console may be released sometime in 2017.
