PS2 Classic Ape Escape 2 Swings onto PS4

Sony has released the 2002 PlayStation 2 Classic Ape Escape 2 onto PS4 today.  Though this might come as a surprise to some people as the trophy list was leaked last week, which could only mean that it was set to hit the PSN storefront sometime soon.

Priced at $9.99, or $7.49 if you are a PlayStation Plus member, the game released August 2nd worldwide. Much like some of the other PS2 Classics, this is another franchise that really hasn’t been heard from. The last entry in the core series, Ape Escape 3, was released way back in 2005 and since then we have only had minor spin-off titles. There hasn’t been any word if there will be a PS4 entry, but this will certainly satisfy our ape catching needs.

For those who are unfamiliar with Ape Escape 2, this is an action adventure game where you are tasked with capturing a bunch of intelligent monkeys that have escaped. The apes are led by their mastermind Specter and his henchman the Freaky Monkey Five. Ape Escape 2 was received positively by both critics and fans alike thanks to the solid gameplay and quirky sense of humor that oozes out of every level.

This is a game that we highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t had the chance to play it yet. Just make sure not to anger the monkeys holding machine guns, they take offense to being shoved in a net.
