Klei Entertainment announced today that it will bring Don’t Starve Together to PlayStation 4 on September 13. A new bundle, the Don’t Starve Mega Pack, will also come to PS4 on the same date with a 60 percent discount offered to anyone who owns the original Don’t Starve, which released on PS4 in January of 2014.
Don’t Starve Together is a multiplayer add-on to Klei’s originally single-player survival game. The DLC has been available to PC players since December 2014, but September will mark its console debut. Up to six players can jump into the game at once with Don’t Starve Together, and PlayStation 4 gamers are going to have the option to do so either online or locally via splitscreen.
Klei Community Manager Corey Rollins says the couch co-op was inspired by stories of players sent to the developer about how they would take turns playing by passing the controller around. This made it obvious to Klei that a lot of players wanted to play the game simultaneously.
Don’t Starve Together will be part of the aforementioned Don’t Starve Mega Pack, which will also include all Don’t Starve content that has previously been released on PlayStation 4:
- Don’t Starve Together: Console Edition
- Don’t Starve: Console Edition
- Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked
- Don’t Starve: Reign of Giants
- Don’t Starve: Console Edition: Shipwrecked Theme
- Don’t Starve: Console Edition: Autumn Theme
The Mega Pack will retail for $26.99, but anyone who already owns the base game will be able to pick it up for $10.79. Don’t Starve Together will also be available separately for $14.99.
