They’re still angry.
Released earlier this year, The Angry Birds Movie boasted a stellar cast including Sean Penn, Bill Hader, and Peter Dinklage. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics the film has been a great success and plans have begun to be made for a sequel.
Rovio, the company behind Angry Birds has revealed that the success of the film has the franchise flying (no pun intended) higher than ever and sees the company beginning new projects, including a sequel. The film has grossed over over $100 million since its release with a budget of $73 million.
“With the excellent performance of our games portfolio and the fantastic movie, the Angry Birds brand is flying high and we are seeing positive EBIT and cash flow development, while fulfilling our mission to create world class entertainment,” said CEO Kati Levoranta. “We currently have several exciting new games and other projects in development, including new IP, and we have started planning the sequel to The Angry Birds Movie.”
Plans for the sequel are of course in very early stages, so anything could happen, but no doubt there are plenty of kids out there who would enjoy a sequel.
