Miyamoto will judge UNIQLO’s competion, signed NX as winning prize
Shigeru Miyamoto will judge this year’s UNIQLO T-shirt Grand Prix competition, following news that it will be Nintendo-themed with the winner receiving a cash prize of $1000 and a Miyamoto-signed NX console.
The competition, which lasts from July the 1st till August the 31st, involves participants from around the world submitting designs that could potentially become a part of the clothing brand’s products. Entries will initially be judged by UNIQLO with the grand prize and runner-ups being awarded by The Legend of Zelda’s and Super Mario Bros.’ creator, Shigeru Miyamoto. The results winning designs will be revealed and on sale as of Spring 2017.
“The Grand Prize is $10,000[,] an invitation to the awards ceremony in which Shigeru Miyamoto will participate [and] a new concept game console NX (DEVELOPMENT CODENAME) from Nintendo specially autographed by Shigeru Miyamoto,” said a spokesperson for Nintendo on the competition’s Q&A page.
Those awarded 2nd place will also be invited to the award ceremony and rewarded with Nintendo’s upcoming console signed by Miyamoto, as well as a cash prize of $3000; runners-up will also receive $500.
Nintendo also released a video on their Youtube channel celebrating the collaboration by showing designs from Splatoon, The Legend of Zelda series and more.
