Just when you thought Naruto was done for the year, Oasis Games has announced it will be publishing Naruto Online, a MMORPG based on the popular manga and anime series, in the west on July 20. The game will be free-to-play and won’t even require a download since you can play right from your browser.
Naruto Online follows the eponymous hero and his quest to become Hokage. Players will select one of five new characters based off of the elements Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Lightning, and jump right in as the narrative unfolds. As you play you will meet some of the most popular shinobi from the series and even recruit them to your team which plays right into the game’s Combo Fighting System.
The Combo Fighting System in Naruto Online is a bit different from what most would expect from an MMO. Instead of free form fighting, or even using hotkeys to just control your own character, Naruto Online uses the placement of your ninjas in order to create attacks with different abilities that rely on a Bonds-system.
As far as modes go, players will be able to play alone or team up with others in dungeons that include huge battlefields and giant Worldbosses. All modes will offer ways to earn EXP, items, and equipment so that you can keep enhancing your character as you relive some of Naruto’s most iconic events.
Everything will take place in familiar locales such as the Valley of the End and the Hidden Sand Village. Along with music and art from the series, fans can expect to hear the original voice actors as they interact with NPCs and journey throughout the world. Fans will finally be able to show the world their “ninja way” in an officially licensed Naruto world.
Are you excited to check out your ninja skills against some of the best ninjas in the world? Curious as to how you’ll help Naruto on his path? Let us know in the comments below.
