Microsoft Will Not Have a Press Conference at Gamescom

Microsoft has announced that, whilst it will be at Gamescom, it will not be hosting a press conference. This news comes as somewhat of a surprise given that, at least year’s Gamescom, Microsoft had loads of news to announce.

Microsoft published the news earlier today on and has stated that it intendeds to have a “more intimate” presence at the event, with a more hands-on approach.

“It’s under five weeks until gamescom 2016 and I’m excited to share the news that Xbox will give our fans the opportunity to get hands-on with the most anticipated titles for 2016 and 2017, across Xbox and Windows 10,” said Aaron Greenberg Xbox marketing manager.

“From our stellar lineup of blockbusters, including Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Halo Wars 2, ReCore and Sea of Thieves, to a host of [email protected] titles including We Happy Few, Everspace and Cuphead, we can’t wait for our fans to play. This year we’re also in a brand new location – you’ll be able to find us in Hall 8 of the Koelnmesse near the north entrance.

“While we will not be hosting a media briefing this year, we’re planning a new and more intimate Xbox FanFest experience for our fans across Europe and worldwide attending gamescom 2016.  We will be sharing more details on our gamescom 2016 Xbox FanFest soon.”

Whilst it’s a shame Microsoft doesn’t have any big news to reveal, it is great that gamers will be able to try out some of their big upcoming games. Just some of the games that will be playable includes:

  • Gears of War 4
  • Forza Horizon 3
  • Halo Wars 2
  • ReCore
  • Sea of Thieves
  • We Happy Few
  • Everspace
  • Cuphead

This is a very interesting development. Gamers are now looking to Sony to see if it will be holding a press conference. The company didn’t last year, so it’s anyone’s guess.

Gamescom is set to be held in Cologne, Germany on August 17.
