Along with revealing new and old faces for Injustice 2, Netherrealm also took the time to announce that the upcoming superhero fighter would be receiving a prequel comic, similar to its predecessor. The first game’s comic bridged the five year gap of Superman’s rise to evil and power, and this time around, the comic will explore the gap between the two games.
Tom Taylor, who wrote the original comic and is the current writer of Marvel’s All-New Wolverine, will be coming back to write this one. Taylor says that his “overarching goal is to tell on complete story between the comics and the games.” Taylor says that the comic will be about Batman and the surviving heroes trying to “bring back hope” to their universe, but he also admitted that given the universe these guys are in, it won’t be easy. You can expect plenty of tears, comedy, and success from this comic, along with “Harley Quinn stealing every scene she’s in”. The prequel comic will be release weekly on digital marketplaces, before being collected in volumes for both physical and digital distribution.
Injustice 2 comes to the Xbox One and PS4 next year.
