Someone “to lead the Diablo series into the future.”
While there is still no official announcement in regards to the future of the Diablo franchise, job postings over the past year have left fans anxious to learn what’s happening behind the scenes. The latest posting, for a new Game Director, is the most curious of all.
Almost a year ago, we started hearing about the unannounced Diablo project when Blizzard posted a job listing for an Art Director. Since then, fans have speculated whether the project will be a second expansion, following Reaper of Souls, or if Blizzard is making the leap to Diablo 4.
It’s worth noting that Josh Mosqueira, the Game Director for Diablo 3 since 2013, is still listed in the same position. This means it’s likely the new job is for a different game. Jay Wilson, the original game director of Diablo 3 left Blizzard and the game’s industry as a whole early last month. It’s unclear what he was working on before leaving.
The job post goes on to list the responsibilities for the new director, including to “be the vision holder for the franchise,” and “to deliver and maintain an epic gaming experience.”
It’s unlikely we’ll hear anything about the next Diablo any time soon. But when we do, you’ll find it all right here on Twinfinite.
