After the really lame Watch Dogs 2 teaser Ubisoft posted on their channel, the developer promised to reveal more details about the sequel on Wednesday, June 8. However, the cards were not in Ubisoft’s favor and it looks like the game’s release date and setting have been leaked way ahead of time.
Thanks to an erroneously posted banner ad over on IGN, we got a quick look at Watch Dogs 2’s new protagonist, as well as a glimpse of the game’s setting. From the looks of the banner ad, that looks a lot like the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, meaning this game will likely be set in San Francisco. For those who might be unaware, Watch Dogs was set in Chicago. More interestingly, the banner ad also provided us with a release date: November 15, 2016. It looks like this might be a worldwide release date, and it’s kind of a pleasant surprise to see that we might get to check out Watch Dogs 2 a lot sooner than expected.
Regardless, we’ll get official confirmation from Ubisoft this week, and I expect the game will be playable at E3, which is just around the corner.
Oh, the IGN banner ad? It’s already been taken down, obviously.
