Mighty No. 9: Final Trailer Ditches Announcer, Actually Looks Fun

It’s no secret that Mighty No. 9 has had a long and bumpy road, but the Kickstarted Mega-Man spiritual successor is finally releasing. Available now, publisher Deep Silver put together a launch trailer for the game, looking to drum up some excitement.

Mighty No. 9 hasn’t fared all too well with its marketing. Along with lackluster fan reaction to some trailer, the game even managed to draw the ire of gamers when the announcer for its most recent trailer insulted anime fans. Cutting out announcers and focusing just on the fun of the gameplay, the launch trailer is likely a bit more in line with what fans were hoping for.

Entertaining trailer or not, the initial reaction to Mighty No. 9 has been mixed at best. The game sits at a mere 57 on Metacritic at the time of writing. Recognizing the problems with the game, developer Comcept took to Twitch before the launch to discuss the valuable lessons the team learned and to explain some of the issues. The team mentions everything from creating stretch goals to knowing when to cut content and how judge whether or not goals are attainable.

“At the end of the day, even if it’s not perfect, it’s better than nothing,” they conclude.
