In a recent Kingdom Hearts 2.8 trailer, Square Enix show exciting gameplay of Aqua in Kingdom Hearts III’s prequel game teaser, Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage, as well as reveal the game’s December release.
Releasing on the PlayStation 4 in December this year, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 is a high definition collection similar to the 1.5 HD Remix and 2.5 HD Remix released on the PlayStation 3.
It includes a remastered version of Kingdom Hearts: Dream, Drop, Distance which was originally released on the Nintendo 3DS; as well as a animated feature film set before the events of the entire trilogy and it’s various spin-offs, Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover, and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage – a short prequel game to Kingdom Hearts III following one of the protagonists from the PlayStation Portable Birth by Sleep, Aqua.
“The brand-new storyline will provide players with a preview of the upcoming events of the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III”, said Square Enix Japan Studios’ Senior Marketing Manager, Kaori Takasue in a recent PlayStation blog post.
The trailer showcasing Aqua jumping around a gravity-free environment fighting a tower of shadow heartless enemies, teases a cameo of another of Birth by Sleep’s protagonist, Terra. The trailer also hints that the title will use a similar user interface as Birth by Sleep, as the menu looks strikingly similar to Birth by Sleep’s Command Deck system, as Aqua is seen casting abilities that were previously in Birth by Sleep such as Spellweaver. Willa Holland also appears to be reprising her role as the blue haired keyblade warrior.
More information on Kingdom Hearts 2.8, including details about the feature film bundled with the collection and Kingdom Hearts III, will no doubt be revealed at E3 next week.
